WEDDING INFORMATION AND FAQ’S
1. I love your style what happens next?
Ok..lets break it down. Shoot me an email to check my availability and I’ll send you my shiny price guide. All being well the date is available and you want to book me. I send you a booking form, invoice for the deposit of £200 and the contract. Everything is completed online, so if you’re far away from me, it’s no problemo! That’s it once everything is returned, you are in the diary…WHOOP WHOOP!
2. Let’s say hello with an Engagement Shoot.
So we are back to the “we aren’t photogenic and don’t like have our picture taken”. I hear ya, I don’t love it either. So lets have a practice. We head out to a location near me (I can make suggestions). That’s not to say I can’t travel to you, there just might be an additional to pay, but lets chat! We have a laugh and a giggle about how awkward you feel at first and then you’ll relax into it, I promise! We do lots of walking and chatting about your wedding and life in general. In an hour or so, we’ve taken some great pictures that you’re probably not aware of. THAT’S IT…EASY PEASY!
3. Oh my…your wedding is just around the corner
I’m gonna send you a list of questions about your timeline for the day. The who’s who and the what’s what! This will be sent 2 months before your wedding date. In particular I need to know your confirmed timings, arrival address if they are different from your venue, who you want in your family group pictures (I can make suggestions) Any questions at this point or if you prefer to speak on the phone or in person just hola and we can make a plan to meet.
4. I show up with my camera.
- So on the day I like to start shooting 2 hours before you leave for your ceremony. At this point I just like to blend into the background. I will be documenting all the gorgeous stuff, the dress going on, the laughter, the nerves. Just think of me as a friend hanging out with you. Oh…I’m super helpful too, I’ve buttoned, laced, zipped and fastened countless brides into dresses.
- During the ceremony I like to shoot from the front, if there is an opportunity to move discretely to the back I will. Everything is unposed and documented as it happens, the last thing I want to do it distract you during your vows!
- I like to arrange a confetti shot, LOVE LOVE LOVE tons of colourful confetti, I try to do this soon after the ceremony.
- Through out the drinks reception I will document people having a lovely time. Looking for the laughs, the hugs from friends you haven’t seen for ages. I’m also looking for shots of the venue, the details and the landscape to give your images a greater sense of story.
- We will head off for some couple portraits, we don’t go for hours but I find it beneficial to be away from your guests so you’re only distracted by each other. It’s actually nice to have some quiet time, just the two of you to reflect and take it all in.
- I’m going get your group shots before dinner, I recommend around 6 is a good number so you’re not standing for hours taking pictures.
- When you sit for dinner, I take this opportunity to eat too, but I am always close by making sure I’m not missing anything.
- I love photographing the speeches, I will be documenting the laughter the tears, the oh my where did that photo come from! Just love a good speech, you’ll often find me tearing up behind my camera.
- Dance the night away and party hard, I’m shooting into the night and like to get stuck in, I find everyone is just way more relaxed by now and it’s a great opportunity to get some wild and crazy dance moves!
5. After the Party
So I’m going to be downloading and editing your fabulous wedding in my signature style. This takes around 4 weeks to complete, you will receive a link to your gallery, were you can view, share and download your images in glorious high resolution. Please please, make sure you print your photos, make sure you have something tangible from your photography, don’t leave them hidden on your laptop or phone. There is an online shop attached to your gallery with some beautiful products to tempt you.
FAQ’S
WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL?
I’m a Devon Wedding Photographer and love to shoot weddings in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. That being said I undertake weddings throughout the UK and Destination weddings. I charge a little bit of fuel if your wedding is further than 50 miles from me in Plymouth and if I need an overnight stay that is also chargeable.
DO WE NEED TO MEET YOU BEFORE WE MAKE A BOOKING?
Whilst it’s lovely to meet before you make a decision about your wedding photographer, sometimes it’s just not possible. I receive enquires most days and am booked 1-2 years in advance. I really try to let my photography speak for itself and have lots of examples of my work on my website and blog, so most clients are happy to book without meeting face to face. We can do the awkward SKYPE/FACETIME meeting to say howdy, I just need to tidy my office first…
HOW LONG WILL YOU STAY AT OUR WEDDING?
I have 3 booking options. The Short Coverage I arrive two hours before your ceremony and leave when you sit down to eat, if your speaches are BEFORE dinner then I don’t mind staying to cover those. The Standard Coverage is from getting ready until your first dance, The Extended Coverage is from getting ready until the dancing throughout the evening. I do cap this at 10pm.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE OUR IMAGES AND HOW MANY WILL WE GET?
I take a huge amount of care and attention when editing your images and in the Summer months it can take upto 6 weeks for me to deliver your work. I normally say 4 weeks is the standard turnaround time. It’s totally worth the wait! Im shooting digitally so there is no limit to what I shoot, I carefully select the absolute best for you and you can expect to see approximately 700-900 images depending on the coverage you book with me. This isn’t set in stone, sometimes it might be a few less sometimes a few more.
CAN WE SHARE OUR IMAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Yes of course! Your online gallery allows you to share your photographs with the world, if you want to. All I ask is that you don’t crop, manipulate or add filters to them! A link/tag to my website would be most appreciated, I rely heavily on referrals from my awesome clients so please do shout about me to your friends and share away!
DO YOU ARRANGE FORMAL GROUP SHOTS?
My couples book me for my natural documentary approach to weddings, but I totally understand the importance of having a lovely record of your close family and friends. So YES I do arrange group shots. In my experience about 6 group photographs should be enough to capture your nearest and dearest. I do have couples that need more shots and that is totally fine. To help you with you timeline each group shot takes around 4 minutes to set up and capture… you can do that maths!
